About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Feudi del Pisciotto estate is in Sicily, 7 km from the sea, between Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina. Its 40 ha of vineyards include both local and international varieties. The vineyard’s first harvest was in 2007.

Grapes

The blend consists of equal proportions of Gewürztraminer and Sémillon.

Vinification

Fermentation lasted 30 days, using natural yeasts in stainless-steel tanks and new oak barrels. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation. The winery transfers must and wine into vats by gravity.

Ageing

The wine matured for one year in oak barrels, half of which were new, followed by six months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.

Tasting profile

Gewürztraminer contributes an intense aroma, while Sémillon provides structure and acidity.

Label / history

The range was conceived by Paolo Panerai following the vineyard’s first harvest in 2007, with each wine dedicated to an Italian fashion designer who created its label. Gianfranco Ferre designed the label for this Passito. Part of the range’s sales proceeds is allocated annually to charity, including the restoration of Sicilian works of art and monuments.
