About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Pinot Nero is grown at Pomino, where cool soils with good water reserves sustained vine development through the notably hot 2024 summer.

Grapes

Pinot Nero.

Vinification

The grapes fermented at controlled temperature in 60 hL truncated-conical oak vats. Manual punch-downs, especially early in fermentation, aided extraction of anthocyanins and polyphenols from the skins. Maceration lasted two weeks. Alcoholic fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation in French-oak barriques.

Ageing

The wine remained in French-oak barriques for 12 months, followed by a further period of bottle maturation.

Technical data

Alcohol: 13%. Available format: 0.75 L.

Tasting profile

Pomino Pinot Nero 2024 is brilliant ruby red. Ripe red and black berries and candied orange peel introduce the bouquet, followed by cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, with subtler leather and roasted tones. The palate is fresh and balsamic, with silky yet vibrant tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Vintage notes

The 2024 cycle followed a winter of average rainfall and mild temperatures, with no snowfall. Budbreak was uniform across the estate, and the shoots were vigorous. Flowering in early June and veraison in late July occurred during dry days with intense sunshine. Despite one of Tuscany’s hottest recorded summers, the soil’s water reserves allowed growth to continue through harvest.
