About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The 52-hectare vineyard is in the Rufina commune, at 450–720 metres above sea level, with a south-westerly exposure. The highly acidic clay and sand soils support 20-year-old vines planted at 5,000 vines per hectare. Yields are 50 hl/ha.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in September, with each variety vinified separately. Of the harvest, 75% ferments for 22 days in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16–18 °C; the remaining 25% ferments in French barriques at 19–23 °C. The wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for four months in stainless-steel tanks and three months in barriques, followed by one month in bottle.
Tasting profile
Elegant and velvety.
Vintage notes
The beginning of 2023 was mild, with isolated cold days and snowfall. Spring brought even budbreak, followed by temperatures below the seasonal average. May was cool and frequently rainy, with above-average precipitation. Summer—particularly August and September—was hot and almost entirely dry. These conditions delayed the harvest slightly while allowing the grapes to develop a complex, elegant aromatic profile.
