About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from vineyards in the province of Pescara. The vines use the traditional Abruzzo overhead pergola training system and yield 12 tonnes per hectare. Harvest takes place by hand in October, with careful selection of the grapes.

Grapes

100% Montepulciano.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place at 28°C in 150 hL vats, with frequent pump-overs and délestage. Maceration lasts for more than 14 days, and malolactic fermentation is completed.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12 months, with 30% aged in oak barrels and 70% in vats.

Technical data

Alcohol: 13% vol.

Tasting profile

Ruby red. The aroma shows intense red fruit with light accents of spice and chocolate. The medium-bodied palate has mature tannins, accompanied by further spice and chocolate notes and good persistence on the finish.

Serving and pairing

Pairs with pasta in rich meat sauces, pizza, and arrosticini or other skewered meats.
