About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from a single 12.5 ha old vineyard in Castelvetro.

Vinification

After harvest, the grapes are crushed and traditionally macerated for 36 hours at 10–12 °C, then cooled. Slow fermentation follows in closed tanks.

Ageing

The wine is intended to be enjoyed young. When cellared, a storage temperature of 14–16 °C is recommended.

Tasting profile

Vibrant, with firmness balanced by softness.

Serving and pairing

Pairs with salami and smoked meats.

Label / history

Cleto Chiarli founded the company in 1860 after managing Trattoria dell’Artigliere in central Modena, where he made Lambrusco for regular guests. The reception of those wines prompted him to establish Chiarli and produce Lambrusco for wider sale. The Chiarli family owns more than 90 ha of vineyards in the Lambrusco DOC production area. In 2002, Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli decided to build a new winery at Azienda Agricola Castelvetro; since 2003, the facility has produced Lambrusco under the Cleto Chiarli brand.
