About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards are situated in the Bassa Valle del Tirso and Sinis, only a few metres above sea level. The alluvial, sandy soils include a small clay component. The Mediterranean climate brings mild winters, limited rainfall, and very hot, windy summers. Mature vines are trained as alberello and on trellises using Guyot and spur-pruned cordon systems. Yields are 40–50 quintals per hectare (4–5 t/ha), with harvest in mid-October.

Grapes

100% Vernaccia.

Vinification

Traditional white-wine vinification uses gentle pressing and fermentation at controlled temperature.

Ageing

The wine matures for approximately four years in partially filled small oak and chestnut casks. The air space permits the development of the characteristic flor yeast veil associated with Vernaccia di Oristano.

Technical data

Format: 0.75 L.

Tasting profile

Golden yellow with amber reflections. The aroma is intense, broad and ethereal, marked by flowering almond. Dry and full on the palate, it extends into a pleasantly acidic and bitter-edged finish. Warmth and harmony are joined by a firm yet velvety, caressing texture.

Serving and pairing

Serve chilled at 8–10 °C as an aperitif, especially with grey mullet bottarga dishes. At approximately 15 °C it pairs with almond-based desserts. The technical sheet additionally summarizes the serving range as 10–16 °C.
