About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes exclusively from a 1.38 ha vineyard in Neirane, a subzone of Verduno. The soil has balanced proportions of sand, silt and clay and is rich in limestone. Planting density is 6,000 vines per hectare. The wine is produced only in exceptional vintages.
Grapes
100% Barbera.
Vinification
The grapes undergo ten days of skin maceration at a controlled temperature of 27°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10 months in French oak barriques. Vanilla and chocolate notes develop toward spicier nuances with time.
Tasting profile
Purple in color. The nose is deep and generous, combining delicate spice with ripe small red berries. The palate is full and silky, with sweet tannins, substantial structure and freshness. The persistent finish carries chocolate and vanilla notes.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–17°C with risotto, grilled meat or grilled fish. The expected ageing window is 5–12 years. Available in 0.75 L bottles and 1.5 L magnums.
