About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Nebbiolo comes exclusively from a contiguous 3.20 ha vineyard in Rocche dell’Annunziata, one of La Morra’s historic crus. Marne di Sant’Agata marl is interlayered with clay, and planting density is 4,800 vines per hectare.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Traditional vinification includes approximately three weeks of maceration at 27°C.

Ageing

Maturation lasts 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with delicate garnet reflections. The intense, complex bouquet evokes wilted roses, raspberry, small red berries preserved in spirit, undergrowth and aromatic herbs, followed by balsamic eucalyptus and resin and a layer of liquorice. The palate is fresh, savoury, intense and elegant, with sweet tannins, a long aftertaste and considerable finesse.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–17°C. Suggested dishes include beef-and-sausage meatballs in tomato sauce, sausage-and-mash pie, cheesesteak sandwiches, ćevapčići and roasted duck with orange sauce. Cellaring potential is 15–20 years.

Technical data

Formats comprise a 0.375 L half bottle, 0.75 L bottle and 1.5 L magnum supplied in a wooden case.
