About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie on the Tenuta Montecchiesi estate in the commune of Montecchio, Tuscany, at 280 m above sea level. They have a south-westerly exposure and predominantly clay, marl, sandstone and slate soils. The climate is mild.
Grapes
Syrah is blended with a small proportion of Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes are usually harvested by hand at the end of August and gently pressed. The first fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with weekly bâtonnage. A second fermentation follows in the bottle using the traditional method.
Ageing
The complete sparkling-wine production process lasts at least 24 months.
