About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Ciabot Mentin is a single parcel in the Ginestra MGA at Monforte d’Alba, facing east. The wine page places it between 390 and 420 m, while the technical sheet gives an altitude of 440 m. The soil contains 32.5% sand, 46.1% silt, and 21.4% clay, with a high level of active limestone. Its geological formation is sandy Sant’Agata Fossili marl dating to the Tortonian.
The planting date also differs between the two records: 1978 on the wine page and 1981 in the technical sheet.

Label / history
The first vintage was 1982. Ciabot Mentin was Domenico Clerico's first wine from Ginestra and the wine through which the estate initially gained international recognition. “Ciabot” denotes a small house or tool shelter among the vines, while “Mentin” was the owner from whom Domenico acquired the parcel. Following local tradition, the vineyard retained its established name after the change of ownership.
