About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Nebbiolo vineyards extend across the Serradenari hill in La Morra, covering different elevations and aspects. The resulting variation in growing conditions gives the fruit distinct characteristics across the sites. Elevations range from 350 to 480 metres, with exposures running from south-east to south-west. The soils combine blue marl and clay with a small proportion of sand. Vines are Guyot-trained and average at least 25 years of age.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand in October, then destemmed and crushed. Maceration takes place in temperature-controlled tanks at 25–26°C for 20–30 days, with daily pump-overs. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation follows.

Ageing

At least 18 months in large oak casks.

Tasting profile

Garnet red. Aromas of cherry, rose and violet lead to a palate defined by a balanced relationship between acidity and tannins. The wine is enjoyable in its youth but can also mature well, gaining complexity with time.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C with red meat, game, braised dishes or mature cheeses.
