About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from the small Moscadellaia vineyard at Podere San Carlo, at 500 m above sea level. The four-year-old vines are organically farmed and trained low using the Toscano Capovolto system.

Vinification

Fermentation took place spontaneously in stainless steel, without added yeast or temperature control. Skin maceration lasted approximately 14 hours.

Ageing

Approximately eight months in stainless steel.

Technical data

Vintage 2024. Alcohol: 10.8%. Total acidity: 5.01 g/L. Total dry extract: 95.9 g/L. Total sulfites: 206 mg/L. Production comprised 1,000 bottles of 500 ml.

Tasting profile

Made in a still, or “Tranquillo,” style, the wine is delicate and subtle, light and moderately sweet. Floral aromas lead to a pleasant palate balanced by acidity and a lingering finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve fresh and drink immediately, including during the year of production. Pair with dry desserts and cheeses, Tuscan black crostini, grilled shrimp or shrimp cocktail, mixed vegetable salad, or fruit salad.

Label / history

The Moscadello is dedicated to Riccardo Paccagnini, a Montalcino winemaker who made a refined and delicate “Moscatello” at the end of the nineteenth century. Its present label reproduces a design created by Paccagnini.
