About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Lezèr draws on several estate-owned parcels in Mezzolombardo, at the heart of the Campo Rotaliano. The vineyards total 4 ha and combine pergola- and Guyot-trained vines. Their soils are alluvial, gravelly and sandy.
Grapes
84% Teroldego and 16% other red grape varieties.
Vinification
Lezèr is assembled from numerous small experimental lots. The original trials used amphorae, wood, concrete and steel, with skin contact never exceeding 24 hours. The approach remains deliberately flexible: whole bunches may be introduced, while vessels and the techniques and duration of the short macerations change in response to each vintage.
The current production information identifies concrete tanks, wooden casks and terracotta amphorae as the fermentation vessels.
Ageing
The wine matures for 4 months in concrete tanks, wooden casks and terracotta amphorae.
Technical data
Annual production is approximately 50,000 bottles.
Label / history
Lezèr began with the long-held idea of making a light Teroldego suited to summer. A severe hailstorm in August 2017 destroyed 40% of the harvest and provided the impetus for the first experimental vinifications. Small quantities from the damaged vineyards were divided among dozens of short-maceration trials, establishing an experimental method that continues to evolve with every growing season.
