About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The estate’s vineyards lie in Campo Rotaliano, among the mountain valleys of northern Trentino, and cover more than 80 hectares of gravelly soils. Centuries of activity by the Noce River deposited limestone and granite across the area. Winds from the surrounding mountains create a warm but never hot microclimate, prolonging ripening and the harvest season.
The vineyards were improved through pruning, lower yields and the replanting of old vines to make better use of the local terroir.
Grapes
Teroldego is genetically related to Syrah. Elisabetta Foradori selected and cultivated the best clones after finding that the existing vines produced excessive yields without the qualities required for fine wine.
Vinification
The wine remains on its skins in amphorae for eight months.
Ageing
After maceration, it is transferred to cylindrical amphorae and aged for a further year.
Tasting profile
Velvety in texture, with subtle spice and lively acidity.
