About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Morei is one of two sites whose individual character became sufficiently distinct, following years of biodynamic preparations and improved vineyard balance, for its fruit to be vinified separately. The estate’s vineyards lie in Campo Rotaliano, among the mountain valleys of northern Trentino, and cover more than 80 hectares of gravelly soils enriched by limestone and granite deposited over centuries by the Noce River. Winds from the surrounding mountains create a warm but never hot microclimate, prolonging ripening and the harvest season.
The estate reduced yields sharply and used pruning and the replanting of old vines to bring out the character of the terroir.
Grapes
The estate developed its Teroldego plantings through careful selection and cultivation of selected clones.
Vinification
Fruit from Morei is vinified separately. Spanish terracotta amphorae from Villarrobledo are used in making the wine; their shape and porosity are intended to preserve purity and balance.
Ageing
The wine rests for eight months in the Spanish terracotta amphorae.
Label / history
Morei means “dark” in the local dialect.
