About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Tenuta di Castiglioni, the Frescobaldi family’s historic estate, 30 km northwest of Florence in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini area. The site has favourable soils and microclimate, and the grapes are carefully selected.
Vinification
For the 2011 vintage, the grapes were harvested between 16 August and 5 October. Each variety was macerated separately, with the duration adjusted to the variety. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine was transferred immediately to barriques for malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matured for 16 months in new barriques, followed by six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Rich and intense, with a silky texture and a very long finish.
