About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Tenuta Perano is produced from vineyards at 500 m. Their south to south-west exposure, amphitheatre-like configuration and sloping terrain increase sunlight and concentrate warmth. This combination promotes brilliant colour, intense fruit and substantial tannic structure while retaining vibrancy.

Grapes

Sangiovese and complementary varieties.

Vinification

The grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperature. Skin maceration was managed with careful pump-overs to extract polyphenols, colour and structure.

Ageing

Maturation lasted 12 months in barriques and stainless steel. The wine’s components were aged separately, with wood maturation adding tertiary aromatic nuances. A further, unspecified period of bottle ageing preceded release.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14%.

Available formats: 0.75 L and Magnum.

Tasting profile

Tenuta Perano 2023 is bright ruby red. Sour cherry leads its fruit-driven bouquet, joined by red and black berries, varietal floral notes, black pepper and clove. The palate is rounded and fresh, with clearly perceptible tannins that become more refined over time. Flavour and aroma are closely balanced.

Vintage notes

Winter 2023 was cold and brought abundant precipitation but no snow. Spring thaw, ample rain and rising temperatures allowed normal budbreak for this high-altitude Chianti site, while mild conditions supported a broad, complete leaf wall. Moderate temperatures and ventilation aided fruit set. Veraison began in early August amid warm days tempered by well-ventilated nights. The summer was hot without becoming excessive, and rain at the end of August completed an especially favourable season. The vintage produced intense aromas and abundant, soft, velvety tannins.
