About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Yields in the vineyards are deliberately kept low to give the wine excellent structure. Garofoli's vineyards lie in Marche, in the centre of the Italian peninsula, between the Apennine Mountains to the west and the Adriatic Sea to the east.
Ageing
After fermentation the wine ages for one to two years in small oak barrels, followed by almost as long in bottle, which further develops its structure. It is suited to long-term cellaring.
Tasting profile
Refined and rich. The distinctive character and Maraschino cherry notes typical of Conero red wines blend harmoniously with the woody nuances gained during ageing.
Label / history
The Garofoli house dates to 1871, when Antonio Garofoli began producing and selling local wines. Four further generations continued his traditions, updating production methods while preserving the local character. The family today owns 50 hectares of vineyards and produces around 2 million bottles a year.
