About this wine
Monfortino is Giacomo Conterno’s selectively released Barolo Riserva. Fruit is earmarked in the vineyard, fermented without temperature control and given longer skin contact than Francia. Maturation lasts six to seven years in large oak casks. A separate release is decided only after years of ageing. Through 2014, fruit came exclusively from Francia; Arione joined the selection in 2015. Vineyard composition therefore depends on the vintage.
