About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The organically farmed vineyards are located in the municipalities of Venosa, Maschito and Forenza, at elevations of 450–550 m. Planting density is 5,000 vines per hectare, and the vines are 25–40 years old.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates and transported directly to the winery. They are sorted with a linear particle-removal system, which selects intact berries at optimal phenolic ripeness. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at no more than 28 °C, followed by 10 days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation occurs in French barriques and tonneaux.

Ageing

The wine matures for 6–12 months in French barriques and tonneaux, followed by at least six months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.

Label / history

Annual production is approximately 25,000 bottles.
