About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Colle Navicchio hill, at 250 m above sea level. The vines are 50 years old and grow in clay soils. Their deep root systems let the grapes draw on the mineral richness of the land. The estate is run by the De Angelis family, in the Marche.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. The must is then macerated on the skins to develop a fuller flavour. Primary fermentation takes place in cement vessels and amphorae.
Ageing
The wine ages in cement vessels and amphorae for 8 months on fine lees, with regular stirring (bâtonnage) that gives it a distinctive softness. It then rests in bottle in underground cellars at a depth of 8 m, which balances its natural power and brings the structure together.
Tasting profile
Bright in character, with a rich flavour, a powerful structure and a strong personality. Softness from the lees work, and a mineral quality from the site.
Serving and pairing
Suited to fish dishes and to tender meat with aromatic herbs.
