About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from Località Il Poggiolo in Montalcino, at 450 m above sea level. The Sangiovese is planted in sandy-loam soil containing clay and abundant galestro stones. The Chardonnay grows in red soils with a substantial mineral component.

Grapes

A blend of Chardonnay and Sangiovese Grosso, also identified as Brunello. Chardonnay accounts for 40–60% of the final blend.

Vinification

The varieties are handled separately. Chardonnay ferments in stainless steel in contact with its skins at a controlled temperature. The Sangiovese is destemmed and pressed, separating the skins and pulp from the liquid; the liquid then undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel.

Ageing

Chardonnay remains in stainless steel for at least eight months, while the Sangiovese matures in French-oak tonneaux. After a period ranging from eight months to one year, the components are blended and the wine is bottled. Chardonnay represents 40–60% of the blend.

Technical data

Toscana Bianco IGT. Alcohol: 13%.

Tasting profile

Amber yellow in colour, with aromas of white flowers and a distinct mineral character. The finish brings almond nuances associated with the Sangiovese component.
