About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow at Località Il Poggiolo in Montalcino, at 450 m above sea level. The soil has a sandy-loam texture with clay and an abundant galestro stone component.
Grapes
Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello).
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and lasts approximately 21–25 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for two years in large French oak casks, followed by eight months of bottle ageing.
Technical data
Alcohol: 13–14%.
Tasting profile
Deep, brilliant ruby red, developing garnet tones with age. The broad, highly persistent aroma recalls liquorice and woodland berries. The palate is full and persistent, with soft, elegant tannins.
