About this wine
Label / history
Toscana IGT Bionasega is one of Rudy Cosimi’s creatively named wines. Its deliberately irreverent name makes a characteristically Tuscan joke about the fashion for organic wines and, in particular, their use as a marketing device. The idea is not presented as opposition to organic products, but as an assertion that every producer is free to make wine in their own way.
Bionasega forms part of the history of Il Poggiolo, an estate established when Roberto Cosimi purchased the property in 1971. The 65-hectare holding lies at high elevation approximately one kilometre southwest of Montalcino. Rudy Cosimi describes the cellar’s approach as classical and manual.
