About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in the commune of Controguerra in northern Abruzzo, at 260 m above sea level. The vineyards lie between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennines. The vines are planted mainly on clay soils, at a density of 1,100 plants per hectare.
Vinification
Harvest generally begins in the first ten days of October. The grapes are selected, destemmed and crushed, then vinified in stainless-steel tanks at 28 °C with a long maceration. Malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing
The wine matures for 9–10 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak casks, followed by at least three months in bottle in the estate’s cellars before release.
