About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Gewurztraminer grows in the producer's vineyards in Alto Adige, at 300–400 metres above sea level. The site faces east, on sandy loam soils containing red sandstone, minerals and oxides. Alps shelter the area from cold northern air, so warm, humid air from Lake Garda and the Mediterranean Sea shapes the local climate. Warm Mediterranean days alternate with cool nights. Low yields help the grapes reach their full aromatic potential.
Vinification
The grapes undergo cold maceration in the press. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine rests for some time on its fine lees in the same stainless steel tanks.
Label / history
The name Arenis comes from the Italian "arenaria rossa", meaning "red sandstone", after the soils of the vineyard.
