About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes grow on steep slopes at 450–700 m above sea level in the hamlet of Penon. The soils are mainly porous dolomite. Yields do not exceed 50 hl/ha.

Vinification

Only ripe, healthy grapes are selected and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. 80% of the must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks and 20% in oak barriques. Malolactic fermentation is prevented.

Ageing

The wine rests on its fine lees in large oak casks for 12 months.

Vintage notes

2020: In Alto Adige a relatively mild winter was followed by a rainy March and a dry, warm April, so flowering began slightly earlier than usual. The summer had no prolonged periods of extreme heat, but the growing season was short, and the first grapes were picked at the beginning of September. The 2020 white wines are noted for their appealing acidity.
