About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyard's soils are sandy and rich in clay, which give the wine subtle spicy and mineral notes. Lagrein is a heat-loving variety and does well in South Tyrol's hot climate.

Grapes

Lagrein is Alto Adige's oldest native grape variety and is genetically related to Syrah.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand. The must undergoes cold maceration, then temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation follows.

Ageing

After malolactic fermentation the wine is aged for several months in large wooden barrels and concrete vessels before bottling.

Tasting profile

Subtle spicy and mineral notes.
