About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Kurtatsch estate's vineyards in Alto Adige, at 500–650 m above sea level with a southeast exposure. Warm Mediterranean days and cool nights allow the grapes to develop their full aromatic character. The vines grow in gravelly, limestone soils rich in dolomite.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented at a controlled temperature in open steel vats.
Ageing
The wine is aged on the fine lees.
Tasting profile
The dolomite-rich limestone soils give an appealing salty minerality and a long, lingering finish.
Vintage notes
2021: A challenging year in Alto Adige. The winter was mostly sunny but very cold. Spring temperatures rose only briefly and intermittently, slowing the vines' development, but a warm, sunny start to summer made up for the delay in the growing cycle. July and August were unsettled, and the harvest began relatively late. A rainy September was a serious test for the growers, but the results were impressive.
