About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

This Chianti is made exclusively from Sangiovese grown in a single vineyard at Casanova, within the municipality of Terricciola. The three-hectare site lies at 300 m above sea level and faces south-east. Its vines average 30 years old. The sandy soil is marine in origin, rich in oceanic sediments and calcium carbonate.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled vats for an average of 14–15 days. Malolactic fermentation is completed in second-use French oak barrels.

Ageing

The wine matures in French oak vats for at least 12 months, followed by further ageing in bottle.

Technical data

The first vintage was 2007. Average production is 10,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

The calcium-carbonate-rich sandy soil contributes to a floral bouquet with berries, violet and Mediterranean spice. The palate is dry, harmonious and savoury, with a velvety texture.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–17 °C in a Bordeaux glass.
