About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Lucarello vineyard in the municipality of Radda in Chianti. Its soils consist of clay, limestone and sand.
Grapes
Sangiovese is supplemented by a small proportion of Canaiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into small boxes and gently pressed at the winery. Fermentation on the skins takes place in stainless-steel tanks for 27 days at a controlled temperature of 23 °C. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak for 24 months at 16 °C, followed by additional bottle ageing in the winery’s cellars before release.
Label / history
The Livon family acquired Borgo Salcetino, an estate in Tuscany’s Chianti Classico area, between 1992 and 1997.
