Label / history
The name pays tribute to Italian actor Lino Banfi and the film L’allenatore nel pallone, in which his character invents the “Bizona 5-5-5” football formation. Nico Mangione originally envisaged using Negroamaro planted in five rows, with a yield of 5 quintals and five days of skin contact, but this formula was not ultimately followed. The wine was made from Negroamaro until 2015 and from Primitivo from 2016.
The label develops the theme through recurring clues: the number 5 also appears in Mangione’s date of birth, while “Blue Wine” evokes a relaxed mood between blues and reggae.
