About this wine
Grapes
Malvasia Nera makes up the bulk of the blend, with 10% Aleatico added after 4 days of skin maceration and vinification in demijohns.
Vinification
Malvasia Nera, a grape usually made into red wine, was vinified as a rosé in steel vats. Skin maceration lasted 4 days, after which 10% Aleatico, vinified in demijohns, was added. The approach was first taken in the 2021 harvest.
Tasting profile
Malvasia Nera shows its balanced softness and fruitier side in the rosé style. Aleatico adds aromatic texture and depth, and has a forceful impact on the palate.
Vintage notes
The 2021 harvest is when the estate's team decided to challenge the traditional way of making Malvasia Nera.
Label / history
The wine belongs to the vini cattivissimi collection of Masseria La Cattiva, described as bold, unconventional and experimental. Sammichele di Bari is named as the place of the estate. The name refers to Dennis, a figure whose story the text does not tell; the wine is made in the style he likes, and Malvasia Nera is his favourite grape.
