About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Primitivo fruit is grown in Puglia at 200–400 m above sea level, on sandy soils and limestone-rich clay. The vines are 15–40 years old.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and destemmed, then undergo a 36-hour cold maceration at a controlled temperature of 4–5 °C. Alcoholic fermentation takes place on the skins in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then gently pressed off the skins and transferred to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine ages for six months in French oak barrels, followed by at least four months in the winery’s cellars after bottling.
Tasting profile
A barely perceptible fruity sweetness gives the wine a pleasant character.
