About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie near Canale d'Alba in Roero, at 280–330 metres above sea level. The soils are predominantly sandy, with very little silt or clay.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in early September and fermented in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine rests in steel tanks for six months.
Label / history
Matteo Correggia took over the family estate at the age of 23 and converted its mixed-crop farm into a winery, bottling his first vintage two years later. He discontinued its previous products, expanded the vineyards from 8 to 20 hectares and upgraded the cellars. After his death in an accident in 2001, his wife, Ornella Costa, assumed management of the estate. Annual production is approximately 100,000 bottles.
An asteroid discovered in 1984 was named Matteo Correggia.
