About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is grown in Sulcis, in southwestern Sardinia. The Mediterranean climate has little and unevenly distributed rainfall, frequent northwesterly winds, hot springs and summers, and winters ranging from cold and dry to mild. The rich, medium-textured soils combine sand with calcareous clay and have a good mineral supply. Yields are around 90 hL/ha.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested into small crates and partially macerated for 12 hours at 6–8 °C before gentle pressing. The juice ferments in stainless-steel tanks at 14–16 °C.
Ageing
After stabilization, the wine rests for around two months in tanks and at least two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The nose is aromatic, while the palate is lively and refreshing, with bright acidity.
Label / history
In Sardinia and Spanish, “Mesa” literally means a dining table. The winery was founded by designer Gavino Sanna and Giuseppe Mele. Motifs inspired by traditional Sardinian carpet weaving decorate both its white façade and, in a design by Sanna, every Cantina Mesa bottle.
