About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Nebbiolo comes from a 0.6 ha parcel in the Rio Sordo MGA in the municipality of Barbaresco. Planted in 1966, the vineyard lies between 270 and 290 m a.s.l. and faces south and west. Its fine, calcareous Typic Ustorthent developed over fossiliferous Sant’Agata Marls—sandy grey-blue marls with sandy-conglomerate interlayers.

Distinct air circulation and the subzone’s particular microclimate shape a cru marked by prominent spicy character.

Grapes

Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for at least one week at 28–32 °C. The wine then remains on its fine lees at 20–22 °C for at least two months, during which malolactic fermentation is completed.

Ageing

Total ageing lasts approximately 24 months, including a period in traditional oak casks of 2,000–3,000 L. Bottling takes place more than two years after harvest, followed by at least six months in the cellar before release.

Tasting profile

The sensory signature is an especially clear and distinctive spicy expression. The site’s air circulation and microclimate give the wine a character distinguishable from the estate’s other crus, combining elegance with complexity.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18 °C with red meat dishes, roasts, game or aged cheeses.
