About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Cabernet Franc comes from the Piano del Sommacco vineyard at Sambuca di Sicilia (AG), 450 metres above sea level. The soil consists of 46% clay, 22% loam and 32% sand. The vines are trained on an espalier with spurred-cordon pruning.
Cultivation follows the SOStain® protocol. Clover, vetch, yellow mustard and spontaneous plants provide ground cover, increasing soil organic matter and nitrogen while supporting the soil’s microfauna. Vine health is managed with minimal quantities of sulphur and copper. Beneficial insects, mating disruption, zeolite, kaolin and plant extracts are used to deter pests.
