About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the winery's own vineyards in the commune of Spessa, in the eastern hills of Friuli, 50 km from the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. The vines stand at 130–180 m above sea level, on "Flysch" soils of marl and sand, known as "Ponca" in the Friulano dialect. Their high mineral content gives the wine its rich flavour. The continental climate brings marked differences between day and night temperatures. The nearby Alps shelter the vineyards from cold northern winds, while breezes from the Adriatic refresh them. The vines are 27 years old. The winery follows sustainable farming principles.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at optimal ripeness. At the winery they are gently pressed, and the must is clarified by settling. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, which preserves the wine's fresh, youthful style and bright varietal aromas and flavours.
Ageing
The wine ages in stainless steel tanks for 7–12 months. It has an ageing potential of 3–4 years, though it may continue to develop for more than 7 years.
Tasting profile
An elegant dry white with a rich aroma and a polished, refined character. It expresses both its terroir and the character of Sauvignon Blanc, with fresh, bright varietal aromas and flavours and a rich flavour from the soils' mineral content.
Label / history
The label carries an orange flower, which stands for beauty, purity and fragility, and for the force that lets a plant push through the soil. It also expresses the connection between people and nature. The label reflects the winery's commitment to caring for the land and the environment.
