About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from the vineyard of the same name, Il Sasso, in one of the most intriguing and attractive parts of the Santa Cristina a Mezzana area. The site was already well suited to growing high-quality grapes, and Piaggia set out to bring out the best in it.
Vinification
Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are fermented in tanks with native yeasts. Skin contact lasts 18–20 days.
Ageing
The wine ages in French oak barriques for at least 15 months, followed by 6 months in bottle.
