About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown in Carmignano. For the 2022 vintage, the vineyards had south-to-southwest exposure and soils of limestone, marl and clay schist. The wine is certified organic.

Grapes

Sangiovese, Cabernet and Canaiolo. Exact percentages are not given for the current 2024 release or the selected 2022 technical sheet.

Vinification

The 2024 description places harvest in mid-August, followed by vinification in stainless steel with brief skin contact. The 2022 harvest ran from the end of August through the first week of September, with 12 hours of skin contact in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

At least three months in bottle.

Technical data

Alcohol: 13% for the 2022 vintage.

Tasting profile

Cherry-pink to pink in colour. The clean, ample bouquet is fruity and floral, with strawberry, cherry and rose-petal notes. The palate is smooth, round, intense and harmonious, balancing good acidity with lingering freshness. The finish is long and fruity.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 14°C. Its freshness and lightness make it suitable at the beginning of a meal. Pair with pasta and sauce, vegetable soups, chicken, turkey, pizza, Asian dishes, seafood or fish.

Label / history

The name recalls the Tuscan sharecropping custom in which a farmer would taste—or “ruspando”—the must before taking the grapes to the farm.
