About this wine

Grapes

Latest published vintage (2024): 80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, and a combined 10% Malvasia and Trebbiano Toscano.

Technical data

The assigned product page presents Mario Primo as Toscana IGT. The current 2024 shop release is labelled Chianti DOCG, with 12% alcohol in a 0.75 L bottle.

Tasting profile

Bright ruby red. Small additions of Malvasia and Trebbiano contribute to its vivid colour and fresh character. Cherry and plum dominate the fruity bouquet, joined by delicate spice and aromatic-herb notes. Low tannins give the palate a smooth, light texture.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 12–14 °C. Its freshness and moderate alcohol suit tapas and pizza.

Label / history

Mario Primo revisits the style of Chianti made during the 1930s. Its formula takes inspiration from Mario “Primo” Piccini, the second generation of the family, who developed the model almost a century ago.
