About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Produced in Montalcino from Sangiovese. The Riserva is assembled from a selection of the finest vintage casks chosen to express the grape variety and its vineyards of origin.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Ageing

The wine matures for five years in total, including 36 months in 25–50 hL oak casks, followed by six months in bottle.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14.5% vol. Bottle format: 0.75 L.

Tasting profile

Dense and concentrated, with ripe plum, raspberry, tobacco and spice aromas. It has a garnet colour, a powerful palate and soft tannins on the finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18 °C; the official shop specifies 18–20 °C. Pair with red, smoked, roasted or grilled meats. Bistecca alla fiorentina is the classic match.

Label / history

Brunello di Montalcino’s historic first vintage dates to 1888. The wine subsequently became one of Tuscany’s internationally established styles.
