About this wine

Grapes

The 2021 release is composed of Tuscan and international varieties permitted by the Toscana IGT production regulations; individual varieties and proportions are not specified.

Technical data

Alcohol is 14% vol. The wine is offered in a 0.75 L bottle.

Tasting profile

The enveloping floral bouquet presents hibiscus and violet, followed by morello cherry, strawberry and blueberry. Delicate chocolate nuances add aromatic depth. The palate is deep, complex and elegant, with touches of liquorice and minerals. Well-integrated tannins frame a finely drawn finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–20 °C. Pair with truffle risotto, substantial game dishes, roasted or grilled lamb, and Pecorino cheese.

Label / history

The name preserves a Piccini family memory. Angiolo Piccini’s theatre-loving father was affectionately nicknamed “Hamlet” because of his devotion to Shakespeare. As a child, Angiolo found the name difficult to pronounce and called him “Papa Leto”; the resulting name Papaleto recalls the father of the family’s founder and the familial spirit of the company.
