About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Rogolaio's story is tied to an old vineyard discovered beyond a clearing at the foot of a hill. Restored through patient work, it became the nucleus from which Tenuta di Mangerina developed.

Grapes

Tuscan and international grape varieties permitted by the Toscana IGT production regulations. Exact varieties and proportions are not specified.

Technical data

Toscana IGT. Vintage 2020. Alcohol: 14% vol. Bottle format: 0.75 L.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with subtle violet reflections. Intense blackberry, plum and cherry aromas are complemented by fragrant oak. The palate balances softness and elegance, with dark fruit, blackcurrant and a suggestion of black pepper. Fruit and delicate oak persist through the long finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–20 °C. Pair with grilled meats such as steak, lamb chops or venison, as well as hearty stews, aged cheeses and roasted vegetables.

Label / history

The wine's narrative recounts a young farmer, Angiolo, who chased a crow from his crop and reached a clearing below a hill. Crossing the slope, he found an old vineyard and gradually restored it. This first vineyard became the origin of Tenuta di Mangerina and an early root of the Piccini wine business.
