About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards are situated in Madonna di Como, a hamlet of Alba. They face east and have white-marl soils containing clay and limestone. The vines are trained to Guyot and yield 6,000 kg/ha.

Grapes

100% Arneis.

Vinification

The fruit undergoes draining and soft pressing, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats at 10–12°C. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is chilled to 4–5°C to prevent malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

About twelve months in stainless-steel tanks on the original lees from primary fermentation. Periodic bâtonnage keeps the lees suspended, promoting the release of aromatic compounds and polysaccharides that broaden the texture and aromatic layers.

Tasting profile

Deep, bright straw yellow. The intense aroma combines white flowers with rosemary, sage and chamomile. The full-bodied palate is fruity and mineral, with the variety’s characteristic almond note and a very long aftertaste.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–10°C. Its dry, mineral character suits starters, pasta, fish and crustaceans; it can also be served as an aperitif.

Ageing potential

Its full body and aromatic complexity support ageing for up to a decade.
