About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Terre del Conte vineyard, one of Tenuta Larame's organic holdings on the sandy hillsides of Roero. Arneis has been cultivated in these soils since ancient times.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, destemmed and pressed. Fermentation lasts 15–20 days in stainless-steel tanks at 15–16 °C.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees for 2–3 months.
Vintage notes
In 2022, Piedmont experienced a particularly cold winter with little snow. A warm spring brought mountain meltwater that partially replenished groundwater reserves, but temperatures rose in late spring and intense heat arrived before summer. Water retained in the soil mitigated the worst effects of the drought. Yields were lower than expected, while the fruit was highly concentrated.
Label / history
Until 2021, the wine was known as Arneis “Terre del Conte in Canale d’Alba”. The origins of Arneis have been lost to history. Formerly called Nebbiolo Bianco, it was traditionally fermented with Nebbiolo to enhance its aromas. In the 1980s, Tenuta Larame became one of the first wineries to produce a single-variety white wine from Arneis.
