About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from two plots in Gaiole in Chianti, Tuscany, at 450–500 metres above sea level. The vines average around 15 years of age and grow in clay-limestone soils.
Vinification
Harvest normally takes place during the first ten days of September and is carried out by hand. The grapes are selected on sorting tables, destemmed and crushed in small open vats. The wine undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and is bottled by gravity.
Ageing
The wine matures for eight months in concrete tanks.
Tasting profile
A rosé with plenty of character, retaining fresh fruit and aromas as it develops.
Label / history
Riecine was founded by Englishman John Dunkley and his Italian wife. They bought 1.5 hectares of land in 1971, restored an old villa and revived the vineyards. The estate’s first harvest was in 1973, followed by its first wine release in 1975. Gary and Marlene Baumann bought the winery in 1996 and remain its owners.
