About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from a biodynamically farmed vineyard on the west-facing Lirano hill in the municipality of Sinio, on the border with Barolo. The soil is clay and limestone.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in terracotta amphorae. The wine is bottled without filtration or clarification, with only a minimal addition of sulfites.
Ageing
The wine remains in the same terracotta amphorae for nine months before bottling.
Label / history
Vigna Lirano was created from Enrico Rivetto’s desire to revive ancient winemaking and ageing methods using terracotta amphorae. Its name celebrates the Lirano hill, where the Rivetto winery has long been based.
