About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from an approximately one-hectare plot in the municipality of Montemarzino in the Colli Tortonesi. The east-facing vineyard lies at 450 metres and has soils of Tortonian origin. Historical genetic material was propagated by massal selection to preserve biodiversity and the vineyard’s expression.

Grapes

Timorasso, a historic variety of the Colli Tortonesi.

Vinification

The grapes are transported to the cellar in small crates. Whole bunches remain in the press for a few hours before pressing. The must is then deliberately allowed to brown without added sulphites. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats and is initiated with a pied de cuve of indigenous yeasts.

Ageing

The wine remains in the wooden vats for two years without racking, maturing on the lees deposited at the bottom. It is bottled after this two-year period.

Technical data

Production amounts to a few thousand bottles from the approximately one-hectare vineyard.

Vintage notes

The vintages presented run continuously from 2014 through 2022.

Label / history

The family purchased the Montemarzino plot in 2014. This is the estate’s most recently created white wine and was conceived as an indigenous white capable of very long ageing.
